Dodgers: Kenley Jansen Has Successful Heart Surgery

Los Angeles can breathe a sigh of relief. One of it’s collective son’s – the Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen – has made it through his ablation heart procedure. As an added bonus, the team announced they anticipate Jansen to be ready for 2019 Spring Training.

Nevertheless, it’s better to get a message from Kenley himself. The man with 268 saves with ‘Dodgers’ across his chest had a message for all of you immediately following the surgery.

Earlier this month, details were released about the procedure. Jansen’s true fearlessness about his own fate was inspiring. He had this quote when discussing the surgery that awaited him.

“If we don’t find anything, so let’s say they go in and nothing happens, everything is good, I will be done in two weeks,” Jansen said. “But if something is abnormal, then I’ll be down for eight weeks. … But I still can do all my [offseason work] to get ready for Opening Day.”

Jansen’s next challenge will be getting ready for that next ninth inning in which he shuts down a Dodgers win. Over the course of my life following baseball, there’s been no one I enjoy watching close a ballgame more than Kenleys. Coming out of the pen to ‘California Love’ has made the save in the City of Angels a true event.

I can’t wait to hear that tune blare once again come spring. Way to go, Kenley.
