Dodgers News: Dodgers Acquire Lefties Watson, Cingrani

In the last few minutes of the trade deadline, the Dodgers’ have pulled the trigger and have acquired the left handed relief pitcher, Tony Watson from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Pending physical, Watson will be coming to LA to help boost our bullpen and add a lefty specialist to set up Kenley Jansen. Watson has an ERA in the mid 3.00. He has been improving on his year with an ERA of 2.53 in the last month.

The Dodgers’ will owe Watson 1.9 million for the remainder of the year before he will become a free agent.

Watson has also performed exceptionally well against future playoff contenders. Bryce Harper is hitless in 6 at bats, Anthony Rizzo is 4-20 against him, and Jason Heyward is 1-13 against him. Tony Watson could be a crucial piece of a playoff run.

Along with Tony Watson, the Dodgers managed to get Tony Cingrani from the Cincinnati Reds.

The Dodgers have traded away Scott Van Slyke and prospect Hendrik Clementina to the Cincinnati Reds in return.

Tony Cingrani owns a career 4.03 earned run average as a member of the Reds over the course of six Major League seasons.
