Dodgers: Zac Rosscup Designated for Assignment, Casey Sadler Promoted

The Dodgers have designated left-handed reliever Zac Rosscup for assignment and have promoted recently-acquired right-hander Casey Sadler for his first stint with the Dodgers.

Rosscup pitched on Sunday night against the Red Sox and threw four pitches in the dirt against the lone batter he faced. Rosscup has a 5.00 ERA in 18 innings with three separate clubs this season.

Casey Sadler, 29, was picked up from the Tampa Bay Rays on July 3 in exchange for a minor league right handed pitcher. He had recently been DFA’d himself by the Rays. On the season, he holds a 1.86 ERA in 9 games and 19 1/3 innings this season in the big leagues. Across 6 innings in Triple-A Oklahoma City, Sadler allowed 4 earned runs and struck out 9.

In 32 2/3 innings for the Rays’ Triple-A affiliate, he struck out 44 batters with a 2.76 ERA.
